Beaver Scouts (6-8)

We have two very active Beaver Colonies, meeting on Thursday and Friday evenings during term time from 6.15pm to 7.15pm.

Beaver Scouts are boys and girls aged between 6 & 8 years old.

As a Beaver, there are a lot of fun, adventurous, inclusive and challenging things you do. This could be taking part in a wide range of activities including games, crafts and visits many of which we do outside wherever possible. We take part in camps and sleepovers, perhaps spending our first night away from home, or in wider District events where we meet other Beavers and make new friends.

There’s a vast range of badges that can be earned and these will be achieved by working towards them with the rest of the colony.

Our motto is Fun and Friendship.

If you are interested in joining Beavers then please fill in the form by clicking the button to the right and we will be in touch as soon as we can to find you a place!

Thursday Colony

Martin Beckett (Otter) – Beaver Scout Leader

I’ve been running Beavers since 2016 and enjoy the inclusive nature of Scouting. Both my son (Scouts) and daughter (Beavers) are part of the Group and thoroughly love all the outdoor activities.

Sarah Davies (Fox) – Assistant Beaver Leader

I’ve been an assistant Beaver Leader since 2016.  I love to see the children start their Scouting and try new activities and challenges.  The most rewarding thing I have done so far was accompany the Beavers on their Go Wild overnight camp.  For some of them, this was their first experience of camping and many achieved far more than they could have imagined with the large range of activities that was on offer, from the climbing wall to slingshots, go-karting to team challenges and archery to a cave maze.

Danielle Potter-Reeves- Section Assistant

Friday Colony

Victoria Brown (Rabbit) – Beaver Scout Leader

I grew up in a Scouting family and although no girls were allowed to take part I still attended activities alongside my Dad and brother as well as being part of Guiding. The moment girls were allowed to join I jumped at the chance and was one of the first to join the 17th. I enjoy being outside, cooking over fires and learning new skills.

Rob Crutchington (Owl) – Assistant Beaver Leader

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
